Frequently Asked Questions  This page offers answers to some questions but please note it is not a substitute for reading the  Terms & Conditions. Q - What is the Prize? A - If the maximum number of entries is met, the prize is the property Les Vieux Chais, 1 Allée des  Platanes, 16200 Bourg-Charente, France as described on this website and Title Deeds.  It will be  transferred to the winner in the form of an English registered company, Les Vieux Chais Ltd, free of  any encumbrances with all legal costs and purchase taxes paid.  Fixtures, fittings and furniture will  be included.  If the maximum number of entries is not received as at the Closing Date (or extended period) the  Competition will close and:  a) the Prize will not be transferred to the Winner unless the Promoter agrees to transfer the    Prize to the Winner, however, due to the need to return to the UK, the Promoter will be willing  to consider a transfer at a reduced number of entries or  b) alternatively there will be a cash prize of all entry fees less legitimate expenses as per the  Terms & Conditions. Either way there is a Winner whose Prize will be the Property or a cash lump sum.  Q - What do you have to do to enter the Competition?  A - To win the Property simply follow this three step procedure:  To enter the Competition and be in with a chance of winning this amazing property simply follow this three step procedure: Complete the registration form Pay your entry fee of £5 by credit or debit card and feel confident that all transactions are processed by Barclaycard on Optimal Payments’ secure server.  We accept payment by: Visa, Visa Debit, MasterCard, Visa Electron, Maestro, Switch and Solo. Once you have paid your entry fee, you are then invited to play Spot the Boule, where you use your skill and judgement to determine the position of a boule that has been thrown by a player. However, the boule has been removed from the photograph and you must select a position where you think it is.  (For those who are wondering what a boule is, ‘Boules’ is a traditional French ball game and a boule is a metal ball). Remember, all monies are held in an Escrow account until the end of the Competition and a Winner is declared. Q - When was the Competition launched and when will it close? A - The Competition was launched on 11 March 2011.  The closing date is 10 March 2012,  however, the Competition can be extended or closed in accordance with the Terms & Conditions.  Q - How old do you have to be to enter? A - You must be 18 years’ of age or over.  Entrants under the age of 18 years’ are not not elligible.    Q - Do I have to be a UK resident? A - No. Q - Who cannot enter?  A - Families of the Promoters, Ian & Bernadette Weyde, are not permitted to enter; anyone under  the age of 18 years is not elligible; and people in some countries where internet competition  restrictions apply. Q - What are my chances of winning? A - The Terms & Conditions allow for a maximum of 300,000 entrants so your chance of success is  1 in 300,000; a fraction of the odds of winning the National Lottery which are approximately 1 in 14  million.  Q - Can I enter more than once? A - Yes you can.  In fact you can enter as often as you like in order to increase your chances of  winning.  Q - Where is the property in France? A - It is in the village of Bourg-Charente in the department of Charente (16), SW France.  By car it is  approximately:    5 minutes west of Jarnac  10 minutes east of Cognac  75 minutes north of Bordeaux  75 minutes east of La Rochelle  75 minutes west of Limoges   The full postal address is: Les Vieux Chais, 1 Allée des Platanes, 16200 Bourg-Charente, France.  Q - How do I get there? A - Depending on your preferred method of transport:  1. By Air - There are three international airports around 75 minutes drive away: La Rochelle,  Limoges and Bordeaux with Poitiers being just under 120 minutes.  Ryanair was recently  flying into Angoulême which is only 30 mins away but recently stopped its schedule though it  is reported in the local press another airline is interested in offering flights from London-  Gatwick and discussions are in hand. 2. By Rail - The TGV - France's high speed train service - comes into Angoulême (30 mins  away) and if travelling from London you can board at St Pancras Station with only one  change - either at Lille or Paris.  The journey is usually 6 hours from start to finish.  3. By Road - Motorways in France are extremely good and driving is often a pleasurable  experience.  It does not compare (for example) with the UK.  Q - For the winner, what might some options be for the Property? A - The property offers a multitude of exciting opportunities and subject to planning permission  where necessary, here are some suggestions:  1. If your dream is to move to a warmer climate, be mortgage free and live in a lovely location,  then Les Vieux Chais could be just the place for you, your immediate family and even your  extended family. 2. It was recently registered for self-catering holiday accommodation and B&B and though it is  not necessary for you to do this, if you did wish to generate income this way, registration is a  simple procedure and the local Tourist Office is very helpful.    3. The property has achieved as much as £3,000 per week through tourism.  4. If you would like to advance the property further, outline planning permission in the form of a  Certificate d'Urbanisme has been granted to develop part of the buildings into 3 more  dwellings - some 300m2 (3,200 sq. ft.).  When constructed this additional habitable space  could be offered as tourist accommodation, sold, or greatly increase what is already a  substantial family residence. 5. The residue of unmodernised chais, some 960m2 (10,300 sq. ft.), presents many further  possibilities, for example: vehicle and boat storage; kennels; workshops (there is also three  phase electric power); indoor swimming pool, tennis courts or other sporting activities - it is  even big enough for an indoor 5 a side football pitch; gymnasium; gallery; conventions; or  even more dwellings.    6. If it is not possible for you to live at Les Vieux Chais in the immediate future, there is a ready  market for longer term rentals in the region.   Please also note the following:  If you are located in a country where internet competitions such as this are not recognised  you will not be authorised to use your payment card to complete this transaction. It is your responsibility to know the laws concerning online gambling in your country of  domicile.
